We had our first ultrasound today and it went great! Everything is on track and the baby is super tiny this early, but it was so nice to see and hear the heartbeat on the ultrasound screen, 130 BPM. Check out the print out! YAY!

Preggie Pop Drops
Chris and I had a blast last night at the Monday night Patriots Dolphins game, but unfortunately that comes with going to bed late and then waking up early for work. So, maybe the not getting much sleep last night didnt help me. Focusing on not throwing up in my car this morning was quite a task. I knew I wasn't going to be a lucky one's and not get the famous morning sickness, I could just feel it coming on this past week. I remembered that my friend Marlaina took preggie pop drops when she was pregnant so I had bought some last weekend. I took one in the car on the way to work and they actually do work, I felt a lot better. No food aversions to speak of so far, and everything else is going well. Still looking forward to my first ultrasound on the 21st, we hope we can hear a heartbeat!

Our First Doctor's Appointment
We had our first doctors appointment today. I found out my official due date is May 15, 2012. Which is my brother's birthday. I know he is going to be so excited for the news of becoming and Uncle for the first time and possibly sharing a birthday with the little one. I had some blood work done and we talked to the Doctor about what I can eat and what medications I can take. The medication question came up because I am pretty sick with a cold right now. I found out that your immune system drops significantly when you are pregnant. The body has to lower its defences to make sure the baby is not rejected. She mentioned I could take Tylenol and Sudafed. However, I am still hesitant to take anything until I get through the first trimester, so I am trying not to take it.
We schedule our first ultrasound for 9/21!

Little Poppyseed
Hi everybody! Welcome to my new blog. With so many of our friends and family far away I wanted to create this blog to stay in touch. We were in Gainesville this past weekend visiting friends and for the Gator vs FAU game. We arrived on Friday night and went to Dragonfly to meet up with everybody and then hit all the old hot spots (Speak Easy, 101, etc). On Saturday the guys went to play basketball, minus Ben who was injured, so I did some gator apparel shopping with him. We all met up at 101 Cantina to watch the game. After a few drinks... and as the night drew to a close... I started feeling strange cramps and pressure. I knew my that time of the month was coming up but it wasn't the kind of cramps I normally have. We decided to head back to Eric and Rebecca's to relax and catch some sleep. Chris got up pretty early on Sunday to play golf with Ben and Nick. Still having that feeling of pressure and cramps, I decided to go out and buy some pregnancy tests. When I got back sure enough the two pink lines appeared immediately indicating I was pregnant. I was overjoyed, but had to keep it quiet until I could share the news with Chris. Also, we decided not to tell everybody right away until we were 12 weeks in when the risk is significantly reduced, fingers crossed all goes well. Chris got back to Eric's and I showed him the sticks, we quietly celebrated, excited for our adventure ahead!
My last Strongbow for 9 monthsMy friend Lyndsey is about 18 weeks pregnant and so far everything is going well with her and she has not had many symptoms. However, I get the feeling I won't be so lucky with symptoms, but time will tell. It's nice to have a companion on this pregnancy journey and with her being weeks ahead of me, she is sending me a bunch of books she has already read (Thanks Lynds!)
To close my first official blog post, I want to thank Christine Yamokoski for the blog inspiration. She keeps such a nice blog of her lovely family and I hope to be able to create something similar, although I can't make any promises that it will be any good but I will try!
